A six-year-old girl is at the centre of a disturbing child-protection case in Edo State after police arrested a 57-year-old man over alleged sexual abuse.
ValidViewNetwork reports that the suspect, identified as Kadiri Edenokun, was arrested over allegations involving his six-year-old stepdaughter in Jattu, Auchi.
Police said the child was allegedly defiled multiple times. The suspect remains an accused person, and the allegations must be established through investigation and due legal process.
The case again draws attention to the vulnerability of children within homes and the responsibility of adults to protect them.
Child sexual abuse requires prompt investigation, medical and psychological support for the victim, and proper prosecution where evidence supports a charge.
The identity and privacy of the child should also remain protected throughout the process.

As the investigation continues, the central issue is the safety of the child and the need for authorities to handle the matter without delay, intimidation or interference.
Any prosecution must proceed according to the law, with the child protected and the suspect accorded due process, ValidViewNetwork reports.
