The University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) has received a major boost in its renal care capacity following the donation of three complete sets of advanced dialysis machines by the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, and his wife, Pastor Mrs. Folu Adeboye.
The Chief Medical Director (CMD) of UBTH, Prof. Idia Ize-Iyamu, commended the couple during the delivery of the equipment in Benin City, noting that the intervention will significantly complement government investments in public healthcare. She emphasized that the state-of-the-art units will substantially expand the hospital’s capacity to manage patients suffering from severe kidney-related conditions.

The donation was presented on behalf of His Love Foundation (HLF)—the official global Christian Social Responsibility arm of the RCCG—by Pastor Bode Olojede. Olojede noted that the foundation remains deeply invested in humanitarian interventions spanning healthcare, education, hunger relief, prison ministry, and social enterprise. He added that the cleric and his wife have continuously championed national health infrastructure projects, including the establishment of intensive care units and numerous specialized dialysis centers across teaching hospitals nationwide.

Also present at the handover ceremony, the Federal Commissioner representing Edo State on the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Rt. Hon. Engr. Victor Edoror, lauded the philanthropic gesture. Edoror, a former Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, stressed that public health challenges are too vast for the government to shoulder alone, while urging other faith-based leaders and prominent Nigerians to emulate the initiative.
The newly acquired medical supplies include Nefro 4000 A HD Machines, Nefro Dialyzers (1.8M2), Nefro Universal Bloodlines, Nefro Bicarbonate Cartridges, Nefro Acid Concentrates, and Nefro Dialysis Fluid Filters. Coming shortly after other major infrastructural enhancements at the teaching institution, the development is expected to ease the financial and physical burden on vulnerable renal patients in the region.
