Security forces deployed for the Osun State governorship election recorded significant operational activities, resulting in the apprehension of 295 individuals for various electoral offences and infractions.
According to the Force Spokesman, Ani Iniedu, comprehensive screening procedures led to the immediate administrative bail and release of 293 suspects. However, two individuals remain in police custody and will face formal prosecution as investigations conclude.
The security architecture, which integrated tactical units, mobile patrol teams, and specialized surveillance, was established to mitigate disruptions, deter vote-buying, and maintain public order across the state’s local government areas. While complementary agencies such as the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps reported zero direct arrests during their deployments, joint enforcement units maintained strict vigilance around flashpoints to safeguard electoral materials and ensure a credible outcome.
