OSOGBO — Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has opened up about the profound influence of his family background, describing his elder brother, business mogul Adedeji Adeleke—father of global music icon Davido—as a father figure and trusted advisor whose strategic counsel has guided both his personal and political life.
Speaking during a recent interview on Sunday Politics, the governor reflected on the legacy of their late father, a distinguished Second Republic senator and diplomat, noting that his older brother bridges the emotional gap left by their father’s passing.
”I miss my dad big time. But when I see him, I see my dad. So, he is like a father figure to me,” Governor Adeleke shared.
Recounting their earlier years in business, the governor candidly admitted that his youthful stubbornness initially caused him to overlook his brother’s insights. He recalled instances where he ignored warnings regarding unviable business ventures, only to realize the wisdom in his brother’s foresight after experiencing failures firsthand. This dynamic eventually transformed their relationship, leading the governor to formally view him as a strategic advisor.
Addressing political criticisms regarding allegations of establishing a family dynasty, Governor Adeleke firmly rejected the narrative, attributing public support instead to the genuine affection and admiration of the electorate.
”I’m not the one that made it. It’s the people that watch us. They watch us, not me. This is democracy. Can we force them?” he asserted, emphasizing that the strong bond and mutual support deeply rooted within the Adeleke family continue to resonate with citizens.
