Davido Mocks APC As Uncle Leads Osun Guber Race

​ABUJA — Popular Afrobeats artist David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, has taken a swipe at the All Progressives Congress (APC) as initial results from the Osun State governorship election indicate an early lead for his uncle, incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke.

​The singer, who actively participated in the governor’s re-election campaign, took to social media to celebrate as ballots were sorted and counted across the state’s polling units. Citing early returns, Davido claimed the opposition suffered a setback in the stronghold of former Osun State Governor, Bisi Akande.

​”Their group chat don scatter! Baba Akande lost his ward. Gov Adeleke is cruising to victory. Shame APC. Osun no be Edo!” Davido posted, referencing the outcome of a previous off-season election.

​Amid the collation process, the music star urged residents and party supporters to maintain vigilance through the night against any attempts to compromise the outcome. He also called on security agencies to sustain their presence at collation centers.

​The Imole Campaign Council similarly raised concerns, alleging through its Media and Publicity Committee Chairman, Rep. Bamidele Salam, that there were clandestine plots to declare the exercise inconclusive, urging election observers to remain alert.

​Voting concluded across the state on Saturday, with election officials promptly transitioning to sorting, counting, and uploading results to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal.
