
JERUSALEM — Ambassador Nkechi Linda Ufochukwu has officially assumed office as Nigeria’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the State of Israel, following the presentation of her Letters of Credence to Israeli President Isaac Herzog.
The formal presentation ceremony took place on Monday at the Israeli presidential residence in Jerusalem, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the event, Ambassador Ufochukwu conveyed warm greetings and goodwill from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the people of Nigeria to the Government and citizens of Israel, emphasizing the Federal Government’s dedication to deepening bilateral ties.
Key Focus Areas for Bilateral Cooperation
Addressing officials after the ceremony, Ufochukwu outlined her primary objectives for her diplomatic tour of duty, emphasizing mutual economic and strategic growth:
- Trade and Investment: Expanding economic partnerships and encouraging private-sector collaboration.
- Agriculture and Food Security: Leveraging Israeli agricultural technology to boost domestic production in Nigeria.
- Technology and Innovation: Fostering knowledge exchange and technical cooperation.
- Defense and Security: Strengthening joint counter-terrorism efforts and intelligence frameworks.
- Healthcare & Cultural Exchanges: Enhancing medical partnerships and people-to-people diplomatic ties.

President Isaac Herzog welcomed the newly-minted Nigerian envoy, expressing Israel’s strong readiness to collaborate closely on matters of mutual interest—particularly technological innovation and security.

Ambassador Ufochukwu’s deployment follows her appointment by President Tinubu and subsequent confirmation by the Nigerian Senate. Her assumption of full diplomatic responsibilities marks a vital chapter in reinforcing the long-standing diplomatic and strategic relations between Nigeria and Israel.
