AMANGAZMTOTI — A high-stakes intelligence-driven operation by the Provincial Drugs and Firearms Unit has dismantled a localized drug-packaging syndicate, resulting in the arrest of three men and the seizure of rock cocaine valued at over R1 million.
The swift raid unfolded on Tuesday afternoon, 28 July 2026, at a popular holiday resort apartment located in Kingsburgh. According to law enforcement authorities, specialized units had been tracking actionable intelligence regarding a trio turning the short-term rental unit into a commercial-scale drug processing and distribution hub.
Police spokesperson Colonel Paul Magwaza noted that the suspects had covertly booked the resort space to process, package, and distribute rock cocaine. Moving in tactically, officers breached the apartment after identifying themselves, catching the occupants red-handed in the middle of packaging the illicit substances.
While one suspect made a frantic attempt to break through the perimeter and flee on foot, he was swiftly intercepted and apprehended on the scene.
A thorough search of the holiday flat uncovered a massive stash of rock cocaine with an estimated street value exceeding R1 million. Investigators also confiscated crucial manufacturing and distribution gear, including two high-volume sealing machines and an electronic precision scale used for weighing the product.

The three suspects, aged between 20 and 34, have been formally charged with dealing in drugs. They are expected to make their initial appearance at the Amanzimtoti Magistrate’s Court.
