The United Arab Emirates activated its air defence systems on Monday after detecting multiple incoming missiles and drones, as rising regional hostilities linked to the Iran–Israel–US tensions continued to spill into Gulf airspace.
According to Al Jazeera, the UAE Ministry of Defence confirmed that its forces intercepted ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones across several locations in the country, in what it described as coordinated defensive action to protect strategic and civilian sites.
In Fujairah, authorities said an Iranian drone strike sparked a fire at an oil installation. Emergency teams were quickly deployed and managed to contain the blaze, with officials confirming that no casualties were recorded.
While UAE authorities detailed the interceptions and damage response, Iran had not issued an immediate statement, leaving its position unclear.
The latest incidents come amid heightened regional instability, with the UAE previously reporting repeated drone and missile activity linked to wider retaliatory exchanges in the Gulf and surrounding conflict zones.
