Aide to Dapo Abiodun Attacked at NANS Election

Violence erupted at the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Joint Campus Committee election in Abeokuta, as Azeez Adeyemi, an aide to Dapo Abiodun, was attacked by a group of youths.

Videos circulating online captured Adeyemi being dragged and beaten by unidentified individuals at the election venue, reportedly held at the NLC Secretariat.

The incident is said to have occurred on Saturday when the governor’s aide arrived at the venue, although the purpose of his visit was unclear at the time of filing this report.

Eyewitness footage showed the moment the situation escalated, with Adeyemi surrounded, forced to the ground, and physically attacked by some youths.

The cause of the violence remains unknown.

Adeyemi, who attended the convention in his official capacity, was reportedly attacked shortly after arriving at the venue.

Reacting on Sunday, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed that an investigation has been initiated following the circulation of the video online.

“An investigation has commenced into the matter already,” he said.
