​Former Minister of Interior and former Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, now serving as the National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has thrown down the gauntlet to the ruling party, asserting they will be powerless to manipulate the upcoming 2027 general elections. Speaking at the official unveiling of the ADC’s chapter in Osogbo on Tuesday, Aregbesola declared, “Nobody can rig us out, we know their ways,” signaling his confidence in overcoming any electoral malpractices.

​Aregbesola’s appointment as interim National Secretary, alongside former Senate President David Mark as interim National Chairman, is part of a broader political coalition that has adopted the ADC as the platform to challenge the ruling party. However, this transition has not been without controversy; a Federal High Court in Abuja had previously issued an interim order restraining both Aregbesola and Mark from presenting themselves as ADC leaders, following a legal challenge filed by a faction insisting on the legitimacy of a different party chairman.
