After being on the police watchlist for 20 months, a suspected cultist known as Bode Olakayode, alias Bode Itaapa, has been apprehended by operatives of the Osun State Police Command.
According to a reliable security source, Bode Itaapa was captured near Orogoji, a village in the Atakumosa East Local Government Area of the state on Sunday.
The Osun State Anti-Kidnapping Squad trailed the suspect to his hideout in the bush, where he was arrested.
Bode Itaapa had been declared wanted by the Osun State Police Command in July 2022 for various offenses including conspiracy to murder and involvement in cultism.

A statement released by the command spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, had previously called for relevant information leading to the arrest of the suspect and cautioned residents against harboring him.
Bode Olakayode, also known as Bode Itaapa, is approximately 34 years old, with a dark complexion, white teeth, 1.70m tall, pointed nose, oblong head, black hair, and is of Yoruba tribe.
The statement emphasized that he had been causing disturbances in Ilesa and across Osun State, warning that anyone harboring the suspect would be treated as an accomplice by the police.
Upon contacting Opalola for further information following the arrest, she confirmed Bode Itaapa’s apprehension but declined to provide additional details, citing ongoing investigations.
