There are reports that Saudi Arabian authorities have arrested two women said to be the wife and mother of Adamu Aliero-Yankuzo, aka Ado Alero, one of Nigeria’s most wanted bandit kingpins.
The women were apprehended in Medina, where they had allegedly been living under false identities. Sources familiar with the operation said the arrests were the result of a coordinated intelligence-led effort involving both Saudi and Nigerian security agencies.
Ado Aliero has long been associated with a reign of terror across Zamfara State and parts of the North-West region, notorious for orchestrating mass abductions, killings, and armed raids. His sustained evasion of capture has been tied to a vast support system that reportedly spans borders.
Believed to be the leader of the groups terrorising Zamfara and Katsina states, Ado Aliero was on 16 July 2022 turbaned as Sarkin Fulani of Daji Emirate by Emir of Yandoton in Tsafe town Zamfara State.
The ceremony came barely two years after the police declared the terrorist leader wanted and placed N5 million bounty on him.
The event took place amid wild celebration of motorbike stunts.
