WASHINGTON — In a major escalation of pressure amid ongoing geopolitical tensions, the United States military has announced a reward of up to $20 million alongside potential relocation for actionable information regarding Iran’s secretive nuclear program.
The announcement, publicized late Friday by the US Central Command (CENTCOM) via social media platform X, points directly to the State Department’s Rewards for Justice program.
Targeting Infrastructure and Scientific Personnel
According to the official notice, the multi-million-dollar bounty seeks details covering a broad range of sensitive assets:
- Facilities and Equipment: Exact locations, logistical setups, and operational states of Iran’s nuclear infrastructure.
- Scientific Community: Information regarding key personnel, associated networks, and their movements.
- Inventory Components: Crucial hardware, such as centrifuges and production materials.
Established in 1984 under national security provisions, the Rewards for Justice initiative aims to incentivize whistleblowers or insiders who can furnish intelligence critical to safeguarding American interests and regional stability.
IAEA Safeguards and Regional Fallout
The State Department’s accompanying brief emphasized that Tehran’s prolonged non-compliance with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has crippled global oversight. Specifically, the agency noted a profound loss of “continuity of knowledge” regarding Iran’s inventory of centrifuges and enriched material components.
While the administration has not outlined the precise parameters required to claim the full $20 million reward, the move underlines Washington’s sustained vigilance.
”If we didn’t hit Iran, you wouldn’t have Israel today,” US President Donald Trump stated during an address in West Palm Beach, Florida. “If they had nuclear, they would have used nuclear. They would have obliterated the Middle East.”
Mixed Signals on a Potential Deal
Despite the aggressive bounty rollout, diplomatic currents remain active. President Trump noted that after eight months of grueling conflict—which has heavily battered Iran’s economy and military infrastructure—Tehran appears eager to find an exit.
”We’re dealing with them now. They want to make a deal very badly,” Trump asserted.
This sentiment aligns with remarks from Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, who maintained earlier this week that his administration remains committed to resolving the crisis through diplomatic dialogue.
However, potential flashpoints remain. Washington has indicated that outstanding concerns persist regarding specific installations—including the contested site in central Iran known as Pickaxe Mountain—which Tehran continues to deny serves any military or nuclear function.
As international mediators race to prevent a fresh wave of hostilities, the new intelligence bounty signals that Washington intends to maintain maximum pressure on the Islamic Republic’s technological and scientific ambitions.
