US-Based Nigerians Must Now Apply for Visas Directly at Missions

​The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has officially disengaged Online Integrated Solutions (OIS Services) as the designated operator for Nigeria’s Visa Application and Submission Centres across the United States.

​This directive, effective immediately, mandates that all individuals seeking a Nigerian visa while residing in the US must now bypass third-party service providers and submit their applications directly to the Nigerian diplomatic missions.

​New Application Protocol

​Prospective travellers and members of the Nigerian diaspora requiring visas to enter Nigeria are instructed to redirect their applications to the following official government offices:

• ​Embassy of Nigeria, Washington, DC
• ​Consulate General of Nigeria, New York
• ​Consulate General of Nigeria, Atlanta

​These missions will now handle the intake and processing of visa applications until further notice. This change effectively terminates the previous arrangement where OIS Services managed biometric capturing and document submission on behalf of applicants in various US cities, including Houston, Los Angeles, and New Jersey.

​The decision to disengage OIS Services follows a broader shift in the management of visa-related appointments. Earlier this month, OIS Services issued a notice confirming that Nigerian visa service appointments for customers located in the United States were being temporarily suspended, citing an effective date of July 1, 2026.

​While neither the Nigeria Immigration Service nor the affected diplomatic missions have provided explicit reasons for the sudden contract termination, the move comes amidst ongoing efforts by the NIS to centralize migration management, strengthen data security, and ensure “safe, orderly, and regular migration” protocols.

​Applicants are advised to monitor the official websites of the Nigerian Embassy and Consulates for updated guidance on scheduling appointments and submitting documentation directly. Government officials emphasize that all visa processes should be conducted exclusively through official channels to ensure the security of personal data and to avoid potential risks associated with unauthorized third-party services.
