The weekend crackdown highlighted a series of coordinated strikes across multiple local government areas, showcasing renewed momentum in the ongoing campaign to secure the North West region.
Explosive Threat Neutralized in Zurmi
The security operations kicked off near Jabanda village in Zurmi Local Government Area, where Sector 2 troops collaborated with a specialized Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit. Acting on urgent intelligence, the combined team successfully located, cleared, and safely detonated a suspected Improvised Explosive Device planted along a vital commercial route. Following extensive scans that declared the thoroughfare secure, authorities promptly reopened the road to motorists, averting a major civilian disaster.
Gunfights Erupt in Birnin Magaji and Shinkafi
As troops returned from the Zurmi clearance operation, they intercepted armed elements near Birnin Tsaba village in Birnin Magaji Local Government Area. Engaging the insurgents in a firefight, the troops forced the outgunned militants to flee into the surrounding wilderness. A subsequent sweep of the engagement zone yielded two operational motorcycles, a camouflage jungle hat, and a handheld radio.
Simultaneously, in Shinkafi Local Government Area, tactical units acting on precise intelligence tracked hostile activity near Kwanar Jolof. Overwhelming the insurgents with superior firepower, the security forces compelled them to retreat in disarray. Exploitation of the aftermath resulted in the recovery of a motorcycle, military-grade camouflage uniforms, a protective vest, and additional tactical gear.

In a major breakthrough against insurgent financing, patrol teams operating near Maradun intercepted a high-value logistics vendor identified as 35-year-old Lawali Dan Alo.
While Dan Alo initially claimed his luggage contained routine food items, a thorough physical search exposed a staggering \text{₦}5,302,000 in cash alongside a mobile phone. Preliminary investigations revealed that the funds were earmarked for delivery to another operative, Kasimu Garba, who was subsequently tracked down and arrested at his residence. Both suspects remain in custody as intelligence units dig deeper into the financial architecture supporting regional terror cells.
