Troops Foil Katsina Bandit Attack, Rescue Six Students And Driver

​Troops operating under the auspices of Operation Fansan Yamma have successfully thwarted a midnight abduction attempt, rescuing six female undergraduates of the Federal University, Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA) alongside their commercial driver in Katsina State.

​The victims were intercepted while traveling in a commercial vehicle from Kaduna State toward Katsina. Armed bandits ambushed the transport along the volatile Daye–Malumfashi road situated within the Danmusa Local Government Area.

​According to an operational security report, military units rushed to the scene following a distress call received around 10:48 p.m. Facing intense, superior firepower from the advancing troops, the assailants abandoned their captives and scurried into neighboring bushes.

​All seven victims emerged unhurt from the ordeal. Following immediate security profiling and mandatory medical evaluations, they were transferred to police authorities to facilitate their safe return to their families and academic institution.

​Concurrently, military campaigns across other geo-political zones yielded strategic successes. In Plateau State, security forces operating under Operation Enduring Peace intervened during separate abduction attempts in the Mangu and Bokkos council areas. Troops rescued multiple victims—some of whom sustained gunshot wounds or injuries during skirmishes with gunmen—and promptly evacuated them to nearby medical facilities for emergency treatment. Operations in the region also resulted in the arrest of a prime suspect linked to a violent household attack in Riyom.

​Meanwhile, in Niger State, engineering units attached to Operation Savannah Shield located and safely neutralized an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted along a major transit corridor in the Borgu Local Government Area, averting a potential disaster for motorists and rural communities.
