The passing of Dr. Paul Akintelure, an All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in Ondo State, has stirred reactions, with Governor Lucky Aiywdatiwa expressing shock and devastation over the incident.
Akintelure’s demise was reported on Tuesday in Lagos following a brief illness, though details surrounding his death remain undisclosed.
In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Ebenezer Adeniyan, Governor Aiyedatiwa extended sympathies to the Akintelure family and the people of Okitipupa Local Government Area.

Describing Akintelure as a committed progressive, Aiyedatiwa lauded his consistency and loyalty to progressive ideals both in Ondo State and Nigeria at large. He hailed Akintelure as a gentleman of admirable decorum and humility, emphasizing his significant contributions.
In solidarity, some APC aspirants have halted their political engagements to honor the late party stalwart.
The spokesperson for the Wale Akinterinwa Campaign Organisation, Segun Ajiboye, announced the suspension of campaign activities, originally scheduled to commence with a praise worship session at Akinterinwa’s residence in Ile-Oluji. Expressing sorrow over the loss, Akinterinwa emphasized the need to mourn and console Akintelure’s family, friends, and the APC in Ondo State.
Similarly, Chief Olusola Oke expressed deep shock at Akintelure’s demise, describing him as a precious asset to Nigeria, Ondo State, and Igbotako town. Oke suspended all political endeavors out of respect for the departed, highlighting Akintelure’s dignified presence in politics and his commitment to harmony despite adversarial conditions.
Consequently, political campaigns have been postponed in honor of the late APC figure.
