Tribunal Rejects IT Analyst’s Prophetic Dream Defense

​An employment tribunal in the United Kingdom has firmly shut down the legal challenge of a former senior computer analyst who argued that prophetic visions justified sending amorous poetry and romantic messages to an unwilling coworker.

​Elrich Daudet, formerly employed by Computacenter (UK) Ltd, sought compensation for unfair dismissal, harassment, and discrimination based on race and religious beliefs after his termination for gross misconduct in December 2022. Daudet maintained that he possessed a prophetic gift, claiming his female colleague had appeared to him in dreams months prior to their actual meeting, serving as inspiration for his songs and poems.

​His literary output included writing that compared the colleague’s scent to “flowers in the Garden of Eden.” Disturbed by the persistent advances, the woman ultimately reported the behavior, noting that Daudet was “doing her head in.”

​An initial employment tribunal ruled against Daudet in 2024, concluding that his dismissal was entirely fair and that his conviction regarding prophetic dreams did not amount to a protected philosophical belief under UK equality legislation.

​Undeterred, Daudet took his case to the Employment Appeal Tribunal alongside his legal representative, Chinonso Ijezie, contending that the initial ruling erred in determining the colleague’s level of alarm and mischaracterized his worldview.

​Employment Appeal Tribunal Judge Lord Fairley dismissed the appeal entirely, finding no legal flaws in the original judgment. Emphasizing that workplace boundaries remain intact regardless of whether communication occurs digitally or physically, Lord Fairley noted that the recipient viewed the romantic overtures as an unwelcome advance that induced genuine discomfort. Furthermore, the judge affirmed that sending amorous love poems cannot be categorized as the legitimate manifestation of a philosophical belief.

​With this final ruling, the legal battle concludes, underscoring that personal metaphysical claims do not override workplace harassment policies.
