A tragic incident occurred on Ojo-Igbede Road in the Ojo Local Government Area of Lagos State, where an unidentified man lost his life after being struck by an electric cable drum.
According to reports gathered by Valid View Network, the incident occurred during the process of moving armoured cables from a container, undertaken by a fork-lift operator on Thursday.
The mishap, which took place on Thursday, involved the victim, who was reportedly engrossed with his phone when the cable drum accidentally fell on him. Regrettably, he succumbed to his injuries while being rushed to the hospital.

A police source revealed that the manager of an electrical enterprise promptly reported the incident at the Ilemba Hausa division, providing details of the unfortunate event. The cable drum dislodged and struck the passerby along Ojo Igbede Road, resulting in his tragic demise.
Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, acknowledged the occurrence and disclosed that the owner of the company involved was currently undergoing interrogation as part of the ongoing investigation.
Hundeyin highlighted the negligence and recklessness displayed by the company, emphasizing the absence of warning signs or guards to alert other road users of the potential danger.
He confirmed that the deceased’s body had been deposited in the mortuary pending autopsy and preservation, while investigations continued into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
