MAIDUGURI – A somber cloud has enveloped the community of Borno following the tragic death of a 14-year-old secondary schoolgirl, who was fatally struck by a stray bullet in the safety of her own home. The incident, which occurred over the weekend, has sparked widespread outrage and renewed calls for stricter military discipline regarding the use of firearms during civilian events.
According to eyewitness accounts and family sources, the victim was inside her residence when a bullet, allegedly fired by a soldier participating in “celebratory gunfire” at a nearby wedding ceremony, pierced through the structure and struck her. Despite immediate efforts to seek medical intervention, the young student succumbed to her injuries before reaching the hospital.
