Search for Family as Spanish Teenager is Found Wandering in Kano

​KANO – The Kano State Police Command has launched an urgent search for the relatives of a 16-year-old Spanish national found wandering in the rural Doguwa Local Government Area.

​The teenager, identified as Alex Ansol, was discovered by locals in Dadin Kowa village after reportedly becoming separated from his travel companions during a cross-country journey.

​A Journey Interrupted

​According to a statement released on Sunday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, young Ansol arrived in Nigeria on March 30, 2026. He had traveled from Spain alongside four relatives, landing at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

​The group was reportedly en route to Kano to visit the boy’s father, identified as Ansol Fan. However, the reunion was derailed when the teenager lost contact with his relatives along the Jos–Saminaka road, a major transit artery connecting the North-Central and North-West regions.

​Police Appeal

​Describing the teenager’s appearance to aid in identification, the police noted that Alex is:

• ​Complexion: Dark
• ​Build: Thin
• ​Distinctive Marks: None (no tribal marks)

• ​Language: Fluent in English

​During profiling, the boy provided an overseas residential address in Spain as “Barsa Rub, Opposite 46 Stadium.”

​”Efforts are currently ongoing to locate his relatives and ensure he is safely reunited with his family,” CSP Kiyawa stated.

​The Command is appealing to the general public, particularly those in the hospitality or transport sectors who may have encountered the group between Abuja and Kano, to provide any helpful information.
