FARIDABAD: A 28-year-old garment trader tragically ended his life inside his shop in the Ballabhgarh area here on Sunday, June 28, moments after uploading a harrowing video on Instagram. In the pre-recorded clip, the deceased accused his wife and her family of relentless mental harassment and physical abuse.
The deceased, identified as Rahul Khosla, was a resident of the Sector 3 Housing Board Colony. He had opened his garment business just four months ago.
Timeline of the Incident
- Sunday Morning: Khosla left his residence after meeting his mother to open his shop.
- 11:00 AM: The tragedy came to light when Khosla’s brother, Amit, spotted the alarming video on Instagram.
- Discovery: Amit and other family members rushed to the shop, finding it locked from the inside. They shattered the glass door to gain entry, but Khosla was already dead.
Upon receiving the alert, the Sector 3 police arrived at the scene, took custody of the body, and transferred it to BK Civil Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Deceased Detailed Ongoing Domestic Abuse
In the video statement recorded before taking the extreme step, Khosla revealed that he had entered a love marriage with Jyoti (also known as Preeti) two years ago. However, he alleged that his domestic life soon deteriorated into a cycle of continuous physical and mental torture orchestrated by his wife, mother-in-law Veena, father-in-law Bittu, and sister-in-law Neetu.
Khosla claimed that despite performing a major share of household chores—including sweeping and washing utensils—he was frequently assaulted by his wife. He further alleged that she pressured him to cut ties and live separately from his parents. According to his final video, his distress peaked two days prior to the incident when his wife filed what he termed a “false assault case” against him.
In his final emotional appeal, Khosla demanded strict legal accountability for his wife and her relatives. He also explicitly stated his final wishes regarding his property, declaring that it should be inherited solely by his mother, siblings, and immediate paternal family.
Police Launch Investigation
Acting on a formal complaint filed by the bereaved family and treating the Instagram video as vital evidence, the Sector 3 police station has registered a criminal case against Khosla’s wife, her parents, and her sister.
”We have initiated a detailed probe into the matter,” said Investigating Officer Ajeet Singh. “The allegations leveled in the video are currently being verified, and appropriate legal action will follow based on the evidence collected.”
