​Tottenham Hotspur have moved aggressively to reshape their squad, reaching an agreement to sign Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali for a record-breaking fee of up to £100 million.

​The 26-year-old Italian international represents the latest pillar in manager Roberto De Zerbi’s ambitious overhaul of the North London side. Following a narrow escape from relegation last season, Spurs have abandoned their historic wage constraints, empowering De Zerbi to build a new-look midfield.
