Ogun state born pianist, Tobi Akinjobi has set a new Guinness World Record for the longest marathon on playing keyboard.
Akinjobi set the new world record of 240 hours to displaced the previous record of 130 hours set by Romanian’s Thurzo Zoltan.
ValidViewNetwork reports that Akinjobi’s official attempt got approval from the world body having put in for the attempt in March 2023.
In an interview, the Abeokuta born music instrumentalist noted that the piano a thon which lasted for 10 days came with a lot of challenges but he’s grateful to have triumphed.
“Sometimes you feel can I just stop, sometimes you feel tired, you want to sleep, you can’t sleep. It’s being encouraging having people coming around, showing me love”
I’m grateful to God, and I’m grateful to my pastor, Pastor Segun Awolowo. It’s been ya gift of men and wonderful team around me.
The new world record holder stated that his aim was to put the nation on the global map.
“My goal is to put the nation on the global map. This kind of thing has never happened before in the history of Abeokuta and Ogun state. We are looking forward to having a musical academy that would manage music enthusiast,music lovers whether in singing or use of musical instruments.
Also speaking, the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo expressed delight in the feat accomplished by Tobi Akinjobi.
“This is a recognition of that position God has placed us. Look at A. Aka, look at the Professor of Juju music, Ebenezer Obey Fabiyi, name any musician, 99.9% of them must come from this town. Even our language is musical, everything we do is musical. We are not surprised.”
The traditional monarch also urged youths to remain steadfast in whatever they do.
“I want to tell all our youths, whatever God has put in your hands to do, d it very well; do it to be the very top, to be best in the world because that’s what our people have always been.”
The bishop of Egba Diocese, Bishop Emmanuel Adekunle also expressed delight at the accomplishment.
“I feel elated and I’m happy about it that this happening in our domain. He has brought worship, the living God into prominence which gladdens my heart as much.
“What he has done looks a first but he is standing on the foundation that has been laid. Egbaland is known for music, especially church music. Talk about people like Bosun Showande, Dedayo Sodeke. He is coming on that note. And I know he is taking church music to greater height.”
