The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has underscored her unwavering dedication to empowering the nation’s youth through education by officially commissioning ten new Digital Learning Centres across Nigeria. This milestone in youth development was unveiled virtually from the State House in Abuja under the auspices of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI).
The digital centres are strategically located in Abia, Delta, Edo, Kano, Katsina, Lagos, Nasarawa, Ondo, Yobe, and Zamfara States. Realized in partnership with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), the project aims to close the educational and technological divide and boost digital literacy among young Nigerians.
In a statement circulated on social media by the Presidency, Senator Tinubu emphasized that this initiative transcends merely providing computers and internet service. It aims to foster creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship, equipping young Nigerians with essential skills to thrive in a rapidly evolving digital economy.
The First Lady referenced President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to creating a conducive environment where the boundless talents and creativity of the youth can flourish, reflecting his administration’s developmental agenda focused on a knowledge-based economy. She urged youths to remain diligent, united, compassionate, and patient as they harness these opportunities.
Senator Tinubu assured that the Renewed Hope Initiative is designed to ensure no Nigerian community is overlooked in the country’s digital transformation journey. The Digital Learning Project is a testament to the Federal Government’s pledge to inclusive growth and human capital development, empowering students and communities, particularly in underserved regions, to engage fully in the digital era.
Additionally, the RHI has also established several community Information and Communication Technology (ICT) centres across the country, named after notable Nigerian women who have contributed significantly to national development, further advancing digital inclusion and literacy.
This ambitious programme aligns with Nigeria’s vision for economic diversification through industrialisation and digitalisation, bridging the gap between education and employability to prepare the youth for the future workforce.
