Ibadan LG Chairmen Pledge Loyalty to Olubadan-Designate Oba Ladoja Ahead of Sept 26 Coronation

Chairmen of the eleven Local Governments constituting Ibadan land, led by the Chairman of Oyo State ALGON, Hon. Sikiru Sanda Lajue, paid a historic and symbolic congratulatory visit to the Olubadan-designate, His Royal Majesty, Oba Rasheed Adewolu Ladoja, on August 22, 2025. The visit took place at the Olubadan-designate’s residence, serving as a platform to pay homage and convey goodwill messages ahead of his official coronation scheduled for September 26, 2025.

Hon. Sikiru Sanda, speaking on behalf of the delegation, emphasized the unity and commitment of the Local Government Chairmen to support the Olubadan-in-Council, calling it one of the finest traditional institutions in the world for its unique and peaceful succession system. He reaffirmed their pledge of unwavering loyalty and support to Oba Ladoja, commending the traditional institution’s role in the progress and development of Ibadan land.

The Chairmen expressed their optimism that Oba Rasheed Adewolu Ladoja’s reign would usher in peace, unity, and unprecedented development for both Ibadan land and Oyo State at large. They also promised to replicate Governor Seyi Makinde’s governance principles to further contribute to the community’s growth.

Oba Rasheed Adewolu Ladoja, the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, is set to be formally crowned on September 26, 2025, at Mapo Hall, following his nomination and approval by the Olubadan-In-Council and subsequent ratification by Governor Seyi Makinde. Ladoja, a former Governor of Oyo State and a seasoned politician, has climbed the traditional chieftaincy ladder and is esteemed for his leadership, resilience, and commitment to the cultural heritage and development of Ibadanland.

This coronation marks a significant event in Ibadan’s history, symbolizing continuity in one of Nigeria’s most respected traditional institutions.
