In the latest FIFA Men’s World Rankings released on Thursday, the Super Eagles of Nigeria experienced a slight dip, moving down two places to 30th position from their previous 28th spot.
The rankings, unveiled by the Federation of International Football Association, showcased Nigeria surpassing the 2023 CAF African Cup of Nations champions, Cote d’Ivoire, and the powerhouse seven-time AFCON winners, Egypt.
Following their participation in two friendly matches post-AFCON, the Eagles secured a 2-1 victory against their regional rivals, Ghana, but suffered a setback with a 2-0 loss to Mali.

Analysis indicates that Nigeria maintains its position as the third-best team in African football, trailing behind Morocco’s Atlas Lions and Senegal’s Teranga Lions.
At the top of the rankings, 2022 World Cup winners Argentina claimed the prime spot, with France, the tournament’s runner-up, closely following. Belgium and England secured the third and fourth positions, respectively.
