The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has strongly criticised the All Progressives Congress (APC) for praising President Bola Tinubu and Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike over the commissioning of new judges’ quarters in Abuja.
ValidViewNetwork reports that the ADC described the APC’s celebration as “shameless,” arguing that the ruling party was applauding leaders for performing basic duties expected of any responsible government.
According to the ADC, the APC’s public commendation of Tinubu and Wike reflects a pattern of political self‑promotion rather than genuine governance. The party insisted that providing decent accommodation for judicial officers is a constitutional responsibility, not an extraordinary achievement deserving of political fanfare.
The ADC further accused the APC of turning essential public infrastructure into a political marketing tool. It argued that the welfare of judges should never be politicised or used as a platform for partisan praise. Instead, the party urged leaders to focus on long‑term reforms that strengthen Nigeria’s justice system and improve the working conditions of judicial officers nationwide.
ValidViewNetwork reports that the ADC called on Nigerians to demand higher standards from political leaders, stressing that essential public services should not be framed as special gifts. The party also urged the government to prioritise transparency, accountability, and institutional development across all sectors, ValidViewNetwork reports.
In a political landscape where routine responsibilities are too often dressed up as monumental achievements, the ADC’s fiery rebuke has reignited a national conversation about what true leadership should look like. As Nigerians grow increasingly vocal about demanding substance over spectacle, this clash of words whether political or not signals a shift in public expectations.
