The Social Democratic Party presidential candidate, Adewole Adebayo, has challenged President Bola Tinubu to a public debate ahead of the upcoming 2027 general election.
Unveiling the party’s 2027–2031 policy blueprint in Abuja on Tuesday, Adebayo declared that an administration under his leadership would decisively eliminate insecurity across the country within four years. Titled Farewell to Poverty and Insecurity, the manifesto outlines broad economic and security strategies intended to provide an alternative to current governance.
Adebayo emphasized that leadership change is crucial for addressing Nigeria’s persistent challenges, urging the electorate to utilize their ballots on January 16, 2027, to steer the nation in a new direction.
The comprehensive policy document highlights several ambitious economic targets, including establishing four fully functional domestic refineries, scaling up electricity generation to 75,000 megawatts, and capping the pump price of petrol at N200 per litre. Adebayo argued that citizens should not be subjected to international pricing standards for locally consumed energy products.
National Chairman of the SDP, Sadiq Gombe, noted that the manifesto was crafted to offer a practical remedy to systemic hardship, while the Chairman of the SDP State Chairmen Forum, Femi Olaniyi, called on party stakeholders to mobilize at the grassroots level to communicate the message clearly to the public.
