Sanwo-Olu Declares August 20 Work-Free Day for Isese Celebration in Lagos

Lagos State Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has declared Wednesday, August 20, 2025, a work-free day for public servants in commemoration of the annual Isese Day.

The announcement, made on Monday, August 18, underscores the state’s commitment to promoting indigenous traditions and fostering cultural unity.

Isese Day, dedicated to the celebration of Yoruba traditional religion and culture, has grown in significance across Nigeria, particularly in the Southwest.

Governor Sanwo-Olu’s declaration follows a tradition of recognizing the day as a public holiday in Lagos, allowing citizens to participate in rituals, festivals, and community events that honor Yoruba deities and ancestors.
