
Deputy Commander of the Commission (DCE), Sa’ad Hanafi Sa’ad, officially assumed the role of Acting Zonal Director at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Benin Zonal Directorate on Friday, October 24, 2025. Bringing extensive experience in anti-corruption investigations and prosecutions, Sa’ad replaces Assistant Commander Effa Okim, who was recently transferred to the Makurdi Zonal Directorate.
Sa’ad arrives at the Benin office with a noteworthy career in the EFCC, having previously served as the Acting Zonal Director in both Kano and Gombe Zonal Directorates. He has also held leadership roles such as Head of the Legal and Prosecution Departments in Sokoto and Gombe, demonstrating deep expertise in combating economic and financial crimes.
In his introductory remarks, Sa’ad pledged to uphold and build upon the achievements of his predecessor. He emphasized adherence to the EFCC Staff Regulations, underscoring his commitment to excellence, discipline, and zero tolerance for corruption. “We work by the book, guided by integrity and teamwork, with the goal to double our successes,” he stated. Sa’ad also lauded the EFCC Executive Chairman’s efforts, urging the staff to reciprocate by delivering outstanding results.

A committed professional, Sa’ad has undergone numerous local and international trainings, including at Nigeria’s National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS). Additionally, he is a fellow of the Security Institute and a member of several professional bodies, reflecting his dedication to continuous learning and professional growth.
With Sa’ad Hanafi Sa’ad’s proven track record in leadership and anti-corruption enforcement, the EFCC Benin Zonal Directorate is poised to strengthen its fight against financial crimes in the region.
