LAS VEGAS — Following the landmark conviction of Duane “Keefe D” Davis for the 1996 drive-by shooting of rap icon Tupac Shakur, Clark County prosecutors have signaled that the legal fallout may not be finished.
District Attorney Steve Wolfson stated that while current evidence does not support immediate action against Sean “Diddy” Combs, his office remains open to reviewing future information. The statement follows a Las Vegas jury finding Davis guilty of first-degree murder with the use of a deadly weapon after less than three hours of deliberation.
During the high-profile trial, jurors reviewed recorded police interviews and media statements in which Davis alleged that Combs offered $1 million to orchestrate the killings of Shakur and Death Row Records co-founder Marion “Suge” Knight. According to trial testimony, the fatal shooting stemmed from a retaliatory dispute following an altercation earlier that evening at the MGM Grand.
Representatives for Combs have consistently rejected any association with the crime, maintaining that he had no involvement in the events leading to Shakur’s death. Davis, 63, is currently held without bail and faces a maximum sentence of life in prison, with formal sentencing set for October 13.
