
IJAGUN, OGUN STATE — The Governing Council of the Tai Solarin Federal University of Education (TASFUED) has officially announced the appointment of Prof. Samuel Ekundayo Oladipo as the institution’s 6th substantive Vice Chancellor.
In a statement released today following a decisive Council meeting, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Prof. Rahamon Adisa Bello, confirmed that Oladipo would succeed the outgoing leadership to become the 3rd indigenous Vice Chancellor of Nigeria’s premier University of Education.
A Milestone for Merit
The appointment is being hailed as a triumph for internal excellence. Prof. Bello praised the incoming Vice Chancellor as a “product of merit and doggedness,” noting that his deep-rooted connection to the university’s founding ethos made him the standout candidate.
Prof. Oladipo’s tenure is set to officially commence on May 5, 2026.
The Profile of a Foundation Scholar
Born on June 29, 1969, in Oyo State, Prof. Oladipo’s history is inextricably linked with the evolution of the institution. He joined the then Tai Solarin College of Education (TASCE) in 1999 and was a foundational faculty member when the school transitioned into a university (TASUED) in 2005.
A distinguished Professor of Social Psychology, Oladipo attained the rank of Professor in October 2014. His administrative journey within the university has been extensive, having served as:
- Pioneer Dean, College of Specialized and Professional Education (COSPED).
- Pioneer Director, Directorate of Research and External Relations (DRER).
- Chairman, University Result Vetting Board.
Beyond the borders of Ijagun, he held a sabbatical post at Adekunle Ajasin University and completed a prestigious post-doctoral fellowship at North-West University in South Africa.
Academic Prowess and Research Impact
Prof. Oladipo is recognized as a prolific scholar with over 70 peer-reviewed journal articles and 10 academic books to his credit. His recent work has focused on high-impact social issues, including a TETFund-sponsored study on counseling interventions for survivors of child sexual abuse in Nigeria.
His research interests remain diverse, covering:
- Spirituality and health.
- Gender-based violence.
- Psychological scale development.
Personal Life and Leadership Philosophy
A man of faith and discipline, Prof. Oladipo is a pastor and an author of 15 Christian books. Known among his peers for his strict adherence to punctuality and accuracy, he is often described as a “teacher of teachers.” He is married to Mrs. Christianah P. Oladipo, and the couple is blessed with children.
