Abuja, Nigeria – Aliyu Audu, the Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Public Affairs, has tendered his resignation, effective immediately. His departure marks another change within the presidential communication team.
In a formal letter addressed to the President, Audu expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve under Tinubu’s leadership. He specifically acknowledged Mr. Ajuri Ngelale, the former Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, for his role in his nomination on August 26, 2023.
Audu’s appointment was subsequently approved by President Tinubu on October 9, 2023.
“I remain deeply grateful to you, Mr. President, for the opportunity to serve my fatherland under your visionary leadership,” Audu stated in his resignation letter. He added, “It has been an honour to contribute to the public communication efforts of this administration.”
Audu concluded his letter by extending his “highest esteem and continued prayers for the success of your leadership and the progress of our beloved nation.”
The reason for Audu’s resignation was not immediately stated in his letter. Efforts to reach Mr. Audu for further comments were unsuccessful as of press time. The Presidency has yet to issue an official statement regarding the resignation.
This development comes amidst recent reshuffles within the President’s media and public affairs structure.
