Operatives from the Ogun State Police Command’s Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) unit have intensified the ongoing Operation Kosaye, successfully apprehending 43 additional suspects during a strategic raid on a criminal hideout in Isheri Olofin, located along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
This latest enforcement action, which took place on July 7, brings the total number of individuals prosecuted under the Operation Kosaye mandate to 76. The initiative, an intelligence-led campaign launched by the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, aims to dismantle kidnapping syndicates, armed robbery gangs, and other criminal networks exploiting the border corridors between Lagos and Ogun states.
According to the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Omolola, the raid on the Isheri Olofin area—a site reportedly used by cultists, drug dealers, and operators of illegal brothels—resulted in the seizure of various incriminating items. Recovered exhibits include quantities of suspected Indian hemp and “Loud,” 10 mobile phones, four power banks, and various personal identification documents.
All 43 suspects, consisting of 28 males and 15 females, have since been arraigned in court on multiple charges, including conspiracy, membership in an unlawful society, and public disorder. They are currently remanded in a correctional facility as investigations continue.
Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, commended the SWAT operatives for their resilience and professionalism. He emphasized that the state remains committed to the “no hiding place” philosophy of Operation Kosaye, warning that any location used as a cover for criminal activity—whether a forest, a brothel, or an urban black spot—will be identified and dismantled.
The police have urged the public to continue providing timely intelligence to support these sustained security efforts, noting that several suspects are already cooperating with investigators to help map out and neutralize additional criminal networks across the region.
