The Abia State Police Command has taken swift action following the tragic killing of Emmanuel Okocha, an Abia-born businessman, by a police corporal identified as Obagi Njok.
The incident, which occurred along MCC Abayi-Aba, has sparked outrage among residents of the Abiriba community in the Ohafia Local Government Area.
According to reports, the victim was shot dead by officers from the Rapid Response Squad of the Nigeria Police Force on Friday, allegedly for refusing to bribe them despite having all necessary vehicle documents.
Following the incident, calls for justice and accountability grew louder, prompting the arrest of Corporal Obagi Njok.
In a statement issued by the Abia State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Maureen Chinaka, it was confirmed that Corporal Njok, who was attached to the Abayi Police Division, has been apprehended.
The statement further revealed that necessary disciplinary procedures have been initiated against him.
Chinaka assured the public that appropriate disciplinary actions and sanctions would be imposed on the erring officer, who will face the full weight of both administrative and legal consequences.

The Police Command also pledged to keep the bereaved family and stakeholders informed as the proceedings progress.
