LAGOS – Bishop David Oyedepo, the Presiding Bishop of Living Faith Church Worldwide, has issued a bold declaration of spiritual protection, asserting that his prophetic mandate serves as a shield for his followers against the rising tide of insecurity and kidnapping in the country.
Addressing a capacity congregation at the Faith Tabernacle, Ota, the cleric shared harrowing yet triumphant accounts of church members and pastors who escaped abduction through what he described as “divine intervention and the authority of the prophetic word.”
The “24-Hour” Ultimatum
In one of the most striking accounts, Oyedepo recounted the abduction of one of his pastors. Rather than succumbing to panic or negotiating a ransom, the Bishop reportedly instructed that his personal contact be made known to the captors as a point of spiritual contact.
”I said, ‘Give them the phone and tell them in 24 hours, if you don’t let him go, you are dead,'” the Bishop recalled. He testified that the kidnappers’ location began to experience a supernatural “vibration,” leading to the immediate and unconditional release of the clergyman.
The Bishop further dared criminal elements, stating, “If anybody picks you, give them my number. If they are not cut down, then I am not God-sent.”
Internal Strife Among Abductors
The Bishop also shared the testimony of a “spiritual daughter” who was taken captive. According to the account, the victim boldly informed her abductors of a specific release time—7:00 AM—based on a prophetic declaration previously made by the Bishop.
Without any physical communication between the Bishop and the kidnappers, Oyedepo claimed the captors turned on one another. “They started cutting themselves and told her to start going,” he said, emphasizing that the victory was won through the “far above” status of the believer in Christ.
A Call to Boldness
Using these incidents as a backdrop, Oyedepo exhorted Christians to discard the spirit of fear despite the prevailing security challenges in the nation. He maintained that believers are seated in heavenly places, “far above” the reach of principalities and criminal oppression.
”You are not a victim; you are a victor,” he declared, urging the faithful to walk in the consciousness of their spiritual heritage.
The testimonies have sparked widespread conversation regarding the intersection of faith and national security, as the Winners Chapel founder continues to position spiritual authority as a primary defense for his global congregation.
