
The Ogun State Police Command has apprehended Olawale Jamiu, a 39-year-old administrative officer at the College of Health Technology (OSCOHTECH) in Ilese, Ijebu-Ode, following allegations of rape against a female student.
The incident reportedly occurred when the student visited Jamiu’s office to retrieve her school file.According to the statement released by the police spokesperson, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, upon her arrival at the office, the suspect forcibly dragged the student into the file room where he sexually assaulted her.
The victim promptly reported the assault to her guardian, who then notified the management of the college.Police swiftly acted on the report made at the Ilese Ijebu divisional police headquarters, leading to the immediate arrest of Jamiu by detectives led by the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Amuda Ajibola.
During interrogation, the suspect initially denied the charges but was later confronted and silenced by apologetic messages he had sent to the victim following the incident.The victim has been taken to the state hospital in Ijebu-Ode for medical care.
Further investigations are ongoing, with the Commissioner of Police, Edward Awolowo Ajogun, ordering the transfer of the suspect to the anti-human trafficking and child labour unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for thorough interrogation and prosecution .
