Ooni of Ife Mourns Elder Brother,Prince Adetunji Ogunwusi

​The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, has announced the passing of his immediate elder brother, Prince Adetunji Ogunwusi. The monarch described the late prince as a distinguished entrepreneur whose life was defined by humility, integrity, and a deep commitment to the welfare of others.

​The announcement was made on Sunday through a statement issued by the Director of Media and Public Affairs of the Ooni’s Palace, Sodiq Lawal. In his tribute, the Ooni noted that the death of his brother has left an irreplaceable void within the Ogunwusi family, the Ojaja Royal Dynasty, and the broader Ile-Ife Kingdom.

​“Today, the entire royal family mourns not only a brother and son but also a trusted confidant, a dependable pillar of our family, and a man whose life reflected honour, dignity, and uncommon compassion,” the monarch stated.

​A Legacy of Entrepreneurship

​Born on December 8, 1967, Prince Adetunji was a prominent member of the Ojaja lineage of the Giesi Ruling House in Ile-Ife. An Agricultural Economics graduate from the University of Ibadan, he began his professional career in the banking sector in 1991, where he earned a reputation for excellence in credit and marketing.

​He later transitioned into the real estate industry, founding Primewaterview Limited in 2005. Under his leadership as Group Chairman of Primewaterview Holdings, the firm became a significant player in the Nigerian property market, known for pioneering high-rise residential developments in the Victoria Island and Lekki corridors of Lagos.

​Beyond his business pursuits, which spanned real estate, oil and gas, and construction, the late prince was remembered by the Ooni for his philanthropic spirit. He was known for providing wise counsel and support to many, consistently upholding the values of the Ojaja Royal Family through his selfless service to society.

​The Ooni expressed the family’s comfort in the knowledge that Prince Adetunji lived a fulfilled life dedicated to God, family, and humanity. He urged the people of Ile-Ife and the Ogunwusi family to find solace in the impactful life led by the deceased.
