Aiyedatiwa Boosts Emergency Healthcare with Free 48-Hour Critical Care

AKURE – The Ondo State Government has reinforced its commitment to reducing mortality rates through the expansion of the Ondo State Emergency Medical Services and Ambulance System (ODSEMSAS). Under the leadership of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, the state has streamlined its rapid response protocols to ensure that residents in distress receive life-saving interventions without immediate financial barriers.

​The service, designed to bridge the gap between emergency occurrences and hospital stabilization, provides free ambulance evacuation for a wide range of medical crises, including road traffic accidents, cardiac arrests, snake bites, gunshot wounds, convulsions, and obstetric emergencies.

​In a move to further safeguard the lives of citizens, the administration has maintained a policy where the first 48 hours of emergency treatment at any accredited state facility are provided at no cost to the patient.

​”Our goal is to ensure that no resident of Ondo State loses their life due to a lack of transportation or the inability to pay for immediate care during those first critical hours,” a government spokesperson noted.

​To access the service, the state has publicized a dedicated emergency toll-line: 09069800060. Dispatch teams are stationed at strategic points to ensure minimal response times across the state’s three senatorial districts.

​Furthermore, the administration has intensified the Rural Emergency Services and Maternal Transport Scheme (RESMTS). This specialized arm of ODSEMSAS is currently operational in Akure South, Owo, Ifedore, Ondo West, and Ese-Odo Local Government Areas. The scheme specifically targets pregnant women and newborns, providing a safety net for rural dwellers who often face logistical challenges during labor or neonatal emergencies.
