Governor Aiyedatiwa Commissions Amotekun’s Advanced Facilities

​Akure, Ondo State — Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, on Monday, December 1, 2025, underscored his administration’s unwavering commitment to security by commissioning the newly completed Command and Control Centre and Training Auditorium of the State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun Corps.

​Speaking at the Amotekun Corps Headquarters in Alagbaka, Akure, Governor Aiyedatiwa declared that the protection of lives and property remains the cornerstone of his administration’s “OUR EASE” policy thrust. He described security governance as a “continuous journey” that demands both public engagement and steadfast government support.

​The Governor emphasized the crucial role of the new facilities in boosting the Corps’ capabilities. The Command and Control Centre is expected to improve operational efficiency and intelligence coordination, while the Training Auditorium will enhance officers’ tactical readiness and professional development.

​”Modern security work demands not only physical capability but also knowledge, discipline, and controlled spaces for tactical and theoretical training,” Governor Aiyedatiwa stated, noting that the prompt release of funds for the facility reflects his commitment to the welfare and professionalism of Amotekun personnel.

​Commitment to Expansion and Legacy

​In a decisive move to strengthen the security architecture, Governor Aiyedatiwa announced the immediate approval for the recruitment of 500 additional personnel into the Amotekun Corps. He also pledged continuous provision of logistics, training, and resources essential for effective operations across the state’s 18 local government areas.

​Governor Aiyedatiwa paid tribute to the late former Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, hailing him as a visionary leader whose courage, alongside his South-West peers, facilitated the creation of the Amotekun Corps.  

Security Chiefs Commend Synergy

​The commissioning ceremony, which also featured the maiden Annual General Meeting of the Amotekun Corps Cooperative Society, drew high praise from heads of conventional security agencies.

​Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, and the NSCDC State Commandant, Oluyemi Ibiloye, both lauded the Governor’s sustained support for security agencies, attributing the state’s relative peace to the robust inter-agency collaboration. Commandant Ibiloye particularly welcomed the 500 new Amotekun recruits as a vital step to further strengthen the state’s security framework.

​Commander Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, the Amotekun Corps Commander, reiterated the Corps’ determination to enhance security, stressing that their success is driven by a founding policy prioritising operational strength, rapid response, and community-based intelligence. Commander Adeleye also expressed profound gratitude to Governor Aiyedatiwa for sustaining and expanding support, which he noted has significantly boosted personnel morale.

​Commander Adeleye also used the occasion to address recent rumours, stating his re-appointment by the Governor was a testament to the administration’s belief in the Corps’ leadership and operational efficiency. The Governor, according to news reports, has publicly dismissed suggestions of plans to remove the Commander, reinforcing stability in the Corps’ leadership.
