The Ogun State government is dedicated to empowering women with financial literacy to enhance their access to opportunities and resources while combating poverty. As part of this commitment, women have been trained under the ‘Oko-Owo Dapo‘ empowerment scheme.
Hon. Adijat Adeleye, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, emphasized the importance of the training during her keynote address at the ‘Training Of Trainers Workshop on Financial Education’ held at the Rotary Club House in Abeokuta.
She encouraged participants to utilize the knowledge gained to educate others and manage their finances independently to improve their businesses.
Adeleye assured participants of the administration’s continued prioritization of women’s welfare and financial independence under the leadership of Prince Dapo Abiodun.
She urged women to view themselves as independent contributors to their families and communities, highlighting the role of financial independence in reducing violence against women.

Mrs. Bolanle Fadairo, the State Project Coordinator of the Nigeria For Women Project, explained that the training aimed to equip women with the knowledge and skills necessary for effective money management, leading to improved livelihoods and well-being.
Dr. Funke Koleowo delivered a lecture titled ‘Key Points on Financial Education,’ emphasizing the importance of increasing investment, saving judiciously, maintaining financial discipline, and prudent spending for inclusive financial management.
The lecture focused on basic principles such as budgeting, saving, and borrowing.
Mrs. Muinat Lawal, representing other participants, expressed gratitude to Governor Dapo Abiodun for the training, stating that it would enlighten them on improving their livelihoods.
She pledged to share the knowledge gained with others.
Facilitators from Ogun West and Ogun East Senatorial Districts, Mr. Rashidi Ajibade and Mr. Taiwo Oyeneye, stressed the significance of financial planning in achieving set goals and ensuring realistic objectives.
They underscored the importance of setting achievable targets within a specified timeframe.
