Forestry Officers in Ogun State have been sternly cautioned against collaborating with unauthorized individuals, specifically loggers, in activities like tree felling and resource loading during weekends.
The warning was issued by Engr. Taiwo Oludotun, the Commissioner for Forestry, during an address to management and Forest Officers at the Ministry’s headquarters in Abeokuta.
Engr. Oludotun underscored the pivotal role of officers as catalysts in the ministry’s revenue generation endeavors and urged them to demonstrate proactivity.

He emphasized that severe penalties would be imposed on any officer found engaging in unauthorized collaborations, as such actions could significantly impact the ministry’s productivity.
The Commissioner also addressed the issue of absenteeism, urging team leaders to conduct regular meetings, at least weekly, to evaluate activities, monitor progress, and identify habitual absentees.
Mr. Timothy Olatunji, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, expressed appreciation to the Commissioner for his support, particularly during the recent training program.
He encouraged officers to apply the knowledge gained from the training in their daily activities, emphasizing its practical relevance rather than considering it a mere formality.
