As part of its determined efforts to rid Ogun State of criminals and criminalities, the Ogun Police in a joint effort with other security outfits has rescued three kidnap victims and arrested three suspects.
The three suspects according to reports were arrested by the operatives of Ogun State Police Command at a forest along Imeko- Iwoye ketu road.
ValidViewNetwork reports that the forests which are the source of life and livelihood have suddenly become the laboratory of criminals from where they coordinate their nefarious activities.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, the three suspects arrested are, Aliu Abubakar 29 years, Umaru Tukur 24 years and Yau Isah 25 years.
Oyeyemi revealed that the suspects were arrested following a distress call received by policemen at Imeko divisional headquarters that eight kidnappers with dangerous weapons blocked Termac/Iwoye road shooting sporadically.
The PPRO confirmed that the operation also led to the rescue of three victims of the kidnappers unhurt.
“Information revealed further that the hoodlums had injured the duo of Bode Ogunleye and Muhammad Basa while the trio of Alhaji Fatai Abdulsalam, Alhaji Dauda Orelope and Alhaji Rafiu Isah were abducted by the same group.
“Upon the receipt of the distress call, the DPO Imeko division, mobilized his men in conjunction with men of Amotekun corps, So safe corps, Hunters, Vigilantes as well as Fulani/Yoruba youths and stormed the forest in search of the victims and their abductors.
ValidViewNetwork reports that the joint action by all the agencies and stakeholders yielded the desired result. The sustainability of a noble collaboration as this will go a long way in flushing criminal elements out of our forests and communities.
Oyeyemi explained that due to the intense pressure, the kidnappers abandoned their victims and took to flight leaving an unregistered Bajaj motorcycle behind at their hideout in the forest.
“The victims were rescued unhurt, while the security operatives continued combing the forest which led to the arrest of three amongst the suspects from their hide out within the forest.
“When they were searched, the key to the abandoned motorcycle at the scene of the kidnap was recovered in the pocket of one of them along with three cutlasses.”
ValidViewNetwork reports that the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to anti kidnapping section of the state Criminal investigation Departments for discreet investigation.
