Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun commissioned the Laderin–Prof. Wole Soyinka Train Station Road in Abeokuta on Tuesday as part of the state’s 50th anniversary celebrations. He announced plans to inaugurate 20 additional roads statewide, underscoring the administration’s focus on robust infrastructure development.
Strategic Road Network Expansion
The Laderin road upgrade enhances access to the Prof. Wole Soyinka Train Station, a vital hub connecting Ogun to Lagos, Oyo, and northern Nigeria, despite lacking original access routes. Thousands of daily commuters now benefit from smoother travel along this corridor, aligning with the state’s multimodal transport vision. This project contributes to over 1,600 kilometers of roads built under Abiodun’s leadership, including the advancing Atan–Lusada–Agbara Road, aimed at improving safety, mobility, and economic growth in Abeokuta and nearby areas.

Key Highway Progress
Abiodun highlighted steady advancement on the 100-kilometer Sagamu Interchange–Papalanto–Opele Road, a pivotal east-west artery. About 25 kilometers between Sagamu Interchange and Papalanto now feature reinforced concrete, fully closed for reconstruction to bypass Abeokuta congestion. Upon completion, it will divert trucks from Ota, Ifo, and Ewekoro, easing pressure on the Abeokuta–Sagamu Expressway and unlocking commerce in industrial zones linked to major factories.
