NOLAP Farms Limited and the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) are set to commemorate two years of their trailblazing partnership, promising a grand celebration that shines a spotlight on agricultural innovation, youth empowerment, and community development. The event will take place on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at the Prof. Olusola Oyewole Lecture Theatre, starting at 10:00 a.m.
The partnership, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2023, has become a national model for university–industry collaboration in agriculture. Over the past two years, NOLAP Farms and FUNAAB have jointly launched and executed projects that directly address the country’s food security challenges. Milestones include a 9-hectare maize farm and a pioneering state-of-the-art beef and dairy ranch on campus, which have enhanced local food production, integrated advanced technology in farm operations, and created valuable hands-on opportunities for students.
Last year alone, the venture celebrated a massive maize harvest involving over 100 market women, with additional plans for expansion into tomatoes, cattle ranching, turkeys, and broader crop cultivation, all supported by new equipment and modern irrigation systems. The active engagement of students within these initiatives has fostered a “learning-by-doing” culture, giving them practical experience and industry exposure.
The upcoming anniversary will feature an inspiring six-minute documentary, produced with the creative input of FUNAAB students, capturing stories of youth transformed through innovative agricultural projects. In addition to panel discussions on the future of agriculture and music performances celebrating student talent, the event underscores the partnership’s mission to amplify youth voices in national agricultural discourse.
Prominent officials expected at the celebration include the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly and the Chairman of Odeda Local Government, alongside university leaders and industry stakeholders.
NOLAP Farms and FUNAAB’s collaborative achievements echo a broader institutional mandate: not just feeding the nation but equipping students and the community with the skills and opportunities needed to shape Nigeria’s agricultural future.
