The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State has clarified that no consensus has been reached on the state’s senatorial seats for the 2027 elections, warning against what it described as misleading reports circulating on social media.

The party’s position follows widespread claims that candidates had already been agreed upon across the three senatorial districts after its recent caucus meeting in Abeokuta.

In a statement issued Tuesday by the Publicity Secretary, Femi Nuberu, the party dismissed the reports as false, insisting that only its official resolutions should be relied upon.

“For the avoidance of doubt and for the sake of absolute clarity, the party hereby reinforces its official stance as follows:

“The state caucus unanimously and consensually endorsed Distinguished Senator Olamilekan Solomon, popularly known as Yayi, as the party’s governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections.

“The state caucus equally reaffirmed the party’s earlier endorsement of President Bola Tinubu as its presidential candidate in Ogun State for the 2027 general elections.

“The party pledges its absolute commitment to delivering an unprecedented bloc of votes in support of the President during the election.

“The above are the sole and authentic resolutions reached at the meeting and represent the official stance of the party.

“Any narrative circulating outside the scope of this official statement constitutes a fabrication, and the party clearly and categorically denounces such fabrication outright.

“Party members and the general public are advised to disregard any information not communicated through the appropriate official channels of the Ogun State APC.”

Despite speculation online, party insiders maintained that discussions over the senatorial tickets are still ongoing, with no final agreement reached.

A senior party source disclosed that while the Ogun Central seat may be tilting towards former governor, Ibikunle Amosun, negotiations over Ogun West and Ogun East remain unresolved.

“I can confidently tell you that the former governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, is going back to the Senate; he is already cleared for the Ogun Central senatorial seat.

“For Ogun West and Ogun East, talks are still ongoing. The President is in touch with the state party leaders.

“It is not true that the Ogun East has been given to the governor and that the Ogun West seat has also been given to the deputy.

“Yes, both the governor and his deputy really want these seats, but the party is yet to make up its mind due to lots of considerations, that much I can tell you.”

The source also dismissed claims that Governor Dapo Abiodun and his deputy, Noimot Salako-Oyedele, had been allocated the Ogun East and Ogun West senatorial tickets respectively.

Although Abiodun has not officially declared his intention, campaign billboards suggesting interest in the Ogun East seat have appeared across the state. The incumbent senator and former governor, Gbenga Daniel, is also reportedly seeking re-election in 2027.

Meanwhile, former Nigerian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Sarafa Isola, said he is continuing consultations regarding his governorship ambition, urging supporters to remain calm amid the unfolding political developments.

“I am sure you are aware of the outcome of the APC state caucus meeting recently held in Abeokuta.

“As a democrat deeply committed to the values of inclusiveness, consultation, and responsible leadership, I wish to assure you that I am actively engaging in broad and meaningful consultations with critical stakeholders and respected voices across our political and social landscape.

“These consultations are essential to ensuring that every decision taken is not only strategic but also reflective of the collective interest, aspirations, and stability of our people.

“I urge all members of the Sarafa Support Groups to remain calm, steadfast, and confident in the process.

“Leadership, at defining moments such as this, demands patience, clarity, and a firm commitment to the greater good.”

He added that a final position would be announced after consultations are concluded.
