Bengaluru’s Central Crime Branch (CCB) police arrested 29-year-old Nigerian national Olajide Esther Iyanuoluwa on December 23, 2025, for smuggling cocaine concealed inside bread loaves while traveling by private bus from Mumbai. Officers seized 121 grams of the drug, with an estimated street value of Rs 1.2 crore (about N75 million), hidden in hollowed-out sections of the bread packed in her backpack alongside other food items.
Acting on a tip-off, a special CCB team surveilled her movements and intercepted her upon arrival near Varthur, where she was set to deliver the consignment to another Nigerian contact. Investigations reveal Olajide procured the cocaine from a male associate in Mumbai and was instructed to transport it personally to evade courier checks, indicating her involvement in an active drug peddling network supplying Bengaluru customers.
Olajide entered India last year on a student visa but never enrolled in any institution, instead frequently relocating across Mumbai suburbs like Ghatkopar and Nallasopara while allegedly trafficking drugs. She faces charges under India’s Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, with police probing links to broader syndicates exploiting everyday items for concealment. This bust highlights evolving smuggling tactics amid rising concerns over narcotics flows between Indian cities and African routes.
