A Nigerian man, Daniel Olowookere, has reportedly been sentenced to six years in prison in the United Kingdom after pleading guilty to raping two girls, both under the age of 12, ValidViewNetwork reports.
ValidViewNetwork gathered that the account comes from a post on X on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, by Nigerian Community UK.
THE COURT AND THE PLEA
Findings show that Olowookere, who is from Blackley, appeared before Manchester Crown Court. He initially denied the allegations before changing his plea to guilty. A late guilty plea often spares child victims the ordeal of giving evidence, so that change carries weight in cases like this.
THE SENTENCING
ValidViewNetwork reports that witnesses described him as showing “zero remorse”, alleging that he shook his head as the judge passed sentence.
That description comes from witnesses and not from a court transcript.
Checks by ValidViewNetwork confirm that his defence team reportedly raised his cultural background as mitigation. The judge reportedly stressed that nothing could excuse the sexual abuse of children.
A WARNING TO OTHERS
ValidViewNetwork can confirm that investigators have warned there may be additional victims and urged anyone with relevant information to come forward.
Parents and guardians who have any concern should contact UK police directly. In Nigeria, the same advice applies: report suspected abuse to the police or a child-protection agency.
WHY THE JUDGE’S POINT MATTERS
Culture explains how people live. It does not excuse harm to a child. The philosopher Hannah Arendt warned against the idea that crimes need extraordinary monsters. She argued that responsibility remains personal whatever the setting.
Nigerians abroad also carry a duty here. A conviction like this should not become a charge against a whole community, and it should not become a shield either.
A six-year term in an abuse case involving two young children will raise questions for many readers about whether it is long enough.

Sentencing in England follows guidelines, and a judge usually considers an early guilty plea. ValidViewNetwork will report the judge’s own sentencing remarks if they are published.
