Telecommunications giant MTN Nigeria has issued an urgent advisory warning its subscriber base against fraudulent online links and phishing platforms promising a complimentary 25GB anniversary data bundle.
The alert, released via the company’s verified support channels, comes in response to a surge in unauthorized websites and social media posts exploiting the telecom brand’s milestone celebrations. Fraudsters have increasingly targeted unsuspecting users by requesting personal identification, banking details, or processing fees in exchange for the purported data gift.
Management has explicitly clarified that the legitimate 25GB anniversary promotion is restricted strictly to authorized customer touchpoints. Subscribers seeking to verify their eligibility and claim the bonus package are directed to use only the official MyMTN NG App or the MTN eShop.
According to guidelines provided by the network provider, eligible customers can activate the reward by logging into the MyMTN mobile application, tapping the dedicated “Redeem Now” prompt on the anniversary banner, or utilizing verified SMS notifications sent directly from official network handles.
MTN emphasized that users must completely avoid third-party links, unverified web portals, and external applications claiming affiliation with the anniversary drive. The company reiterated that official promotions will never require monetary payments or the disclosure of sensitive personal credentials through unverified channels.
Subscribers have been urged to exercise heightened vigilance and rely exclusively on corporate communication streams to safeguard their digital assets against cyber threats.
